SchoolGrown will be at the 1st Annual San Jose Mini Maker Faire to let visitors learn all about their Transportable Aquaponics Greenhouse (TAG). Created by acclaimed aquaponics system designer, Jon Parr, TAG is a 7 x 8 foot greenhouse with an aquaponics system on top of a small trailer. This home system uses proven aquaponic principles to provide supplemental nutrition for a small family. Aquaponics combines aquaculture (raising fish) and hydroponics (the soil-less growing of plants).
TAGs comes pre-assembled, ready to grow, and use 90% less water to grow food than plants grown in soil. The greenhouse can be used to grow a wide variety of greens; lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, onions, beets, strawberries, and more! Solar panels on the TAG generate more electricity than it uses and it includes living fish whose waste is converted in to plant food!
Get your feet and hands wet and check out SchoolGrown’s Transportable Aquaponics Greenhouse yourself on Sunday, September 6 from 10:00am-6:00pm at History Park! For tickets visit:
